Course aims

To develop systematic knowledge of the information and knowledge society approaches, technologies and their applications.

Brief description of the course

Information and knowledge society concepts, development of information and knowledge society, the factors, events and researchers influencing the development of information and knowldge society, stages of development and characteristic features, approaches. Information and digital culture. Digital technologies and social media.

Learning outcomes in the course

Upon completing the course the student:
- has a systematic overview and broad knowledge of information and knowledge society approaches, technologies and their applications;
- understands the characteristics of information and digital culture;
- is able to critically analyse different approaches and technologies of information and knowledge society;
- is able to use modern technologies for analysing problems of information science and offer their solutions;
