Course aims
To create the preconditions for developing the basic knowledge of records and archives management
Brief description of the course
Introduction into the main concepts. The terms and con-cepts of information governance, data and records man-agement. General characteristics of paper-based and digi-tal records management. The concepts of information governance, data, records and archive management. Doc-umentation activities, document, record and archival rec-ord, document’s life-cycle. Information, data and docu-ment system. The processes in data, records and archives management, creation and receipt of documents, registra-tion, classification, retention periods, access, tracking the usage and movement, disposal of records, technology, the level of responsibility in records and archives manage-ment. Data management issues in organisations. Data qual-ity and protection. Process management. Risk manage-ment.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- knows the concepts and principles of information gov-ernance, data and records management and archival work;
- understands the principles of information, data and rec-ords systems and knows the basics of information govern-ance, data and records management in an organisation;
- knows principles of process management;
- is able to understand information governance, data and records management risks.
