Course aims

To create the prerequisites for obtaining knowledge on nature, goals and objectives of digital library.
To support the prerequisites for the formation of knowledge and skills for analysing functions and resources of digital library.

Brief description of the course

The aim and nature of digital library. Development of concepts of digital libray. Areas of digital library development – resources, content, users, functionality, policy, quality, architecture. Framework of digital library development – projects, communities. Thoeretical foundations of digital library models. Human capital in digital library. Value and impact of digital library.

Learning outcomes in the course

Upon completing the course the student:
- knows the core of digital library, concepts and approches to digital library;
- is able to analyse and assess the basics of digital library theoretical models;
- is able to analyse and assess the impact of resources to the development of digital library;
- is able to develop and evaluate the social impact of digital library.
