Course aims

The objective of the course is to develop knowledge, skills and understanding about information needs, seeking and use in traditional and electronic environments.

Brief description of the course

Various aspects and issues related to information competencies will be discussed: the role of information and information-related competencies in society; information needs, seeking and use in education, workplace and everyday contexts. The necessary skills are developed using individual assignments and teamwork. The learning process is supported by learning management system Moodle.

Learning outcomes in the course

Upon completing the course the student:
- is able to recognize the issues and challenges of information competencies, and find, evaluate and use information effectively.
