Course aims

To create the prerequisites for development of knowledge on the external factors that influence an enterprise; business surveys methods; the types of business information.
To develop skills for using business information sources and systems.

Brief description of the course

The business information conception and its typology. Need for business information. The methods of business surveys. Business and environment. Company information and information that is addressed to an entrepreneur. Marketing and marketing survey. Marketing information. The information sources on finance and investments. Information on foreign trade. Business information market, business information providers and dealers. Business information on Internet: databases, thematic gateways, information agencies. Statistical information. Industrial property and intermediary information. Information on standards. Legal acts.

Learning outcomes in the course

Upon completing the course the student:
By the end of this course the student:
Understands the need for business information at an enterprise, and the aims of business information usage;
Knows the nature of business information, its typology, forms and sources;
Can use and evaluate local and international business information sources.
