Course aims
This course aims to explore design as a distinct mode of inquiry, equipping students with the ability to think, create, and generate knowledge through designerly approaches. By examining how designers frame problems, develop solutions, and construct knowledge through making, students will gain insights into the cognitive, visual, and material processes that define design practice. Through a combination of theoretical exploration, hands-on experimentation, and critical reflection, students will develop a deeper understanding of how design contributes to innovation, interdisciplinary collaboration, and societal impact. The course fosters a designerly mindset that can be applied across various domains, from business and technology to social change and policy-making.
Brief description of the course
This course unfolds in a hands-on and reflective manner, blending theory with practice to help students internalize design as a distinct way of knowing. The course is structured into four topics: Foundations of Designerly Knowing; Problem Framing and Knowledge Generation; Applied Designerly Thinking; and Reflection and Synthesis.

Throughout the course, students will participate in seminars, discussions, and critique sessions, ensuring an immersive and interactive learning experience.
