Course aims
The aim of the course is to give an overview of digital educational innovation based on international examples. Digital competence as a concept (models, frameworks and strategies) and assessment of digital competence, educational infrastructure and development. Change management in the application of technology in an educational institution. Digital innovation in education and international strategies and practices.
Brief description of the course
The concept and types of innovation. Basic concepts and models. Digital innovation policy in Estonia, the European Union and the world: strategies, reports, programs, grants. Research and digital innovation. Creativity, ideas and design thinking as a starting point for digital innovation. Innovation sustainability in the organisation. Organisational innovation maturity and its evaluation. Learning organisation, knowledge creation, technology transfer, laboratories. The organisation's digital innovation strategy and its implementation. Innovation Portfolio Management. Protection of intellectual property. Innovation audit.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- understands the concept of digital competence and its dimensions;
- describes innovative digital changes in educational institutions from an international perspective;
- distinguishes between shortcomings in the digital learning system of an educational institution;
- builds a change management strategy to support digital innovation, building on international examples;
- understands the documents regulating and guiding digital innovations and international trends;
- explains innovation concepts, basic concepts, models;
- analyzes digital innovation policy frameworks, strategies and programs;
- examines the organisation's innovation maturity and the adoption of digital innovation in the organisation;
- designs and develops the organisation's digital innovation strategy;
- analyzes the organisation's digital innovation portfolio and intellectual property protection.
