Course aims
The aim of the course is to develop knowledge of Estonian and global educational policy activities, which focus primarily on the implementation of educational technology tools and opportunities in the education system. In addition to understanding the processes of policy-making, the aim of the course is to understand the role of the educator as a creator and influencer of these processes.
Brief description of the course
Digital education strategies: national and international policies guiding the use of educational technology.

Accessibility and equal opportunities: ensuring that all learners have access to digital tools, regardless of socio-economic background.

Data protection and cybersecurity: safeguarding student and teacher data and ensuring a secure digital environment.

Teachers’ digital competence: training programs and policies that support teachers’ technological development.

Innovation in education: the role of emerging technologies, such as artificial intelligence and virtual reality, in the education system.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- understands digital education strategies and their impact on the use of educational technology at national and international levels;
- analyzes principles of accessibility and equity in digital education and designs solutions to ensure inclusive access;
- explains principles of data protection and cybersecurity in educational environments and applies them in practice;
- evaluates and develops teachers’ digital competencies based on contemporary training programs and policies;
- analyzes the role of innovative technologies, such as artificial intelligence and virtual reality, in the education system and their potential applications.
