Course aims
Enable the acquisition of basic knowledge and general skills necessary for planning and executing projects, as well as specific knowledge necessary for planning and executing IT projects.
Brief description of the course
Basic concepts and models of project management (PMBOK, PMMM and OPM3). Project Phases: Initiation, Planning, Management and Closure. Specific characteristics of software projects and critical success factors. Elements of a software process. Development dynamics of software development models and methodologies. Phases of a software project. Software process quality levels (including CMM and CMMI), cost models, etc. Additional issues of project management (project portfolio management, certification of project managers, standards, profitability, etc.). Use of project management software (for example, MS Project) and special software for executing software projects.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- knows the basic models of general project management and IT project development;
- can prepare a project plan, project analysis and an analytical approach to a project management topic;
- knows IT project planning and management tools and methodologies;
- can present and analyze analytical approaches to IT projects.
