Course aims
To develop theoretical knowledge and practical skills for data collection, processing and statistical analytics. Support the development of skills which enables decision making on the selection of the appropriate analysis method(s) and on the correct interpretation of the results obtained during the analysis.
Brief description of the course
Statistical data - collection and processing. Variable characteristics. Selection of an appropriate method of analysis or presentation. Descriptive statistics e. data collection and presentation methods (frequency tables, diagrams, descriptive figures, correlation analysis).
Correlation analysis (description of statistical relationships: correlation coefficients and cross - tabulations).
Analysis of multiple choice questions.
Inferential statistics (t-test, chi-square test, analysis of variance).
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- is able to compile data with the correct structure;
- raises questions that require statistical analysis based on data and objectives;
- explains the nature of the methods of descriptive and inferential statistics, knows the conditions of their application and is able to correctly interpret the results of the analysis;
- distinguishes between the types of data / variable characteristics and chooses the appropriate method of analysis (within the limits of the methods discussed) according to the type of data and the content of the question on the data;
- uses appropriate software for data processing and analysis with the help of instructional material.
