Course aims
Support independent thinking and orientation in professional and scientific literature;
Develop skills for conducting research, analysing and formalising research results;
Support further self-development and motivation for life-long learning.
Brief description of the course
For writing the master's thesis, it is necessary to get acquainted with the scientific literature, theory and methods of the chosen field of mathematics. The students skills of choosing the topic, goal and scientific problem and/or hypothesis, selecting and applying the methods of research, using and reviewing the literature, giving an assessment to the existing theories and studies, making independent and original conclusions, solving the problem and presenting the results, are considered.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- has through independent research, in-depth knowledge in the field of educational sciences and teacher training in computer science both in Estonian and in foreign languages;
- Is able to present and formalize the scientific text in writing;
- Is able to find and analyze professional literature on teaching computer science;
- Is able to collect data and analyze research results in the learning process or in the school information environment;
- Has the willingness to take a research approach to teacher’s work;
- Has interest and readiness to participate in computer science research as well as to continue studies, including in doctoral studies.
