Course aims
Course objective is to give educational technologist students skills and competences in the field of school infrastructure (hardware, terminology, usability, safety, common problems related to hardware and solutions, buying and auditing in a beginner level).
Addition to visiting different schools and educational institutions we look at the infrastructure that is used, learn about best practices (about maintain, use in learning process). In the end of the course student have skills to independently decide what ICT technology is useful for school environment and write a infrastructure development project to achieve that goal.
Brief description of the course
- Hardware at school – what equipment to choose, buy; how to use it, evaluate its well being and safety: projector, computer, document camera, printer, scanner, cameras, smartboards, robotics, mobile technology, electronic measurements and sensors;

- Deployment and maintenance issues with technology – safety instructions, user guides;
Understanding different roles at school context (ICT manager vs. Educational technologist);
- Smart devices at school, apps and devices maintenance and agreements;
Conducting an ICT auditing, planning a infrastructure development project with low level study

Course is divided between lectures, seminars, visiting different institutions (4) and independent work.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- has an overview of the most common educational technology and digital media tools and their use in teaching (the school's hardware and software solutions);
- is able to draw up the institution's technological infrastructure and write educational development needs specification (audit);
- is able to design educational technology support services between different roles;
- is familiar of best practices in the infrastructure and educational technology field (from visits);
- is able to write a safety instructions for the chosen infrastructure.
