Course aims
To create opportunities for the development of theoretical knowledge and practical skills of user-centered design methods. To support the development of group work skills.
Brief description of the course
Introduction to user-centered design. Contextual inquiry. Competitive analysis. Personas. Scenario-based design. Involving stakeholders in the participatory design process. User stories. Concept maps, site maps and flowcharts. User interface prototyping: tools and techniques. Creating and testing paper prototypes. Wireframes. High-fidelity prototypes. Design patterns and interface guidelines. Usability evaluation methods. Presenting the results of design research.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- is able to choose appropriate methods for involving stakeholders in the design process;
- can critically evaluate the usability of existing applications;
- can write personas, scenarios and user stories;
- can create and test paper prototypes and high-fidelity prototypes.
