Course aims
To introduce the fundamentals of computer graphics and multimedia. To create opportunities for acquiring the main working techniques of vector and raster graphics, audio and video processing, and animation.
Brief description of the course
Fundamentals and best practices of computer graphics. Vector and raster graphics. Pixel density. Color models (RGB, HSL, CMYK). Computer graphics software and file formats. Copyright and licenses. Image banks and online tools. . Raster graphics techniques and image processing (Affinity Photo). Vector graphics and user interface design techniques (Figma). The nature of multimedia. Different types of media: their representation in analog and digital form. Digital audio recording and processing (Audacity). Digital video recording and processing (DaVinci Resolve). Audio and video compression. Principles of animation.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- uses field-specific terminology correctly and purposefully;
- distinguishes between computer graphics and media types and file formats;
- selects appropriate software and working methods for creating computer graphics and multimedia solutions;
- creates vector and raster graphics, records and edits digital audio and video, and creates simpler 2D animations based on industry-specific basic principles and best practices.
