Course aims
The aim is to create possibilities to obtain following topics in Modern Standard Arabic (MSA) in speech and in written form:
1. participles, maṣdars;
2. verbs: ten main verb forms in 3-lettered roots; 4-lettered roots; passive;
3. syntax: conditional and passive sentences.
Enable the students to start reading simple texts in Classical Arabic.
Brief description of the course
The following topics of MSA will be dealt with during the course:
1. participles, maṣdars;
2. verbs: X main verb forms in 3-lettered roots; 4-lettered roots; passive;
3. syntax: conditional and passive sentences.
The topics will be discussed through grammar exercises, reading texts and retelling them.
The more simple texts in classical Arabic will be read.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- has knowledge of the grammar topics dealt with during the course;
- has skills to independently construct and understand sentences in MSA according to the grammar topics dealt with during the course;
- has ability to independently read and create texts containing the grammar topics dealt with during the course.
