Course aims
To provide a deeper insight into key texts of medieval philosophy.
To prepare for independent reading and common discussion of medieval philosophy texts.
Brief description of the course
Selected texts of medieval (usually scholastic) philosophy will be read and their content will be clarified using secondary literature.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- is able to read, understand and analyse medieval philosophy texts by herself;
- has a deeper knowledge of some key texts of medieval philosophy and is able to analyse the structure and main ideas and arguments of the text;
- is able to see the importance of the texts in a broader perspective throughout the history of philosophy and culture.
