Course aims

To acquire teaching techniques for EFL instruction and implement them in school work.
To develop student motivation, responsibility and skills for EFL teacher profession.
To develop lesson observation and analysis skills, including self-observation and reflection.

Brief description of the course

Prior to practice, a meeting with the chief methodologist about the essence of the teaching practice. In the course of two weeks, observation of lessons of EL teachers at school and conducting 16-22 lessons at the II-III school level according to the requirements of the teaching practice syllabus and school structure.
Independent work comprises lesson preparation, searching for additional materials, designing additional activities for multilevel classrooms, creating individualised tasks, pair and group work activities, tests and compiling a teaching practice portfolio.

Learning outcomes in the course

Upon completing the course the student:
- can explore and reflect upon their classroom experiences, seeing their connection with the theories of FL teaching;
- can plan, execute EFL lessons and evaluate the effectiveness of their teaching, knowing the subject content and learner peculiarities as well as selecting appropriate teaching methods.
