Course aims
The student will be able to use Finnish orally and in writing.
- has acquired a wide vocabulary, has a good command of a variety of language structures and expressions and can apply what he/she has learned in practice
- has learned the basics of the different varieties of Finnish spoken language (slang and dialects) and understands them
- has mastered the most common types of text and discourse required in everyday and professional communication situations (e.g. e-mail, telephone conversations, social media)
Brief description of the course
A conversation course for B- and C-level speakers of Finnish. During the course different topics are discussed. We will cover at least culture, working life and current affairs.
You will gain confidence in expressing yourself in Finnish, learn new words and expressions and Finnish colloquial language.
The course includes different types of conversation and situational exercises as well as listening exercises on different topics.
In the meetings, we will discuss on the basis of texts given for homework. We will also study different expressions, new words and language structures.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
