Course aims
To create preconditions for the acquisition of linguistic competence in oral and written Finnish language on CEFR proficiency level B1.2. To creat basis for coping with a variety of everyday situations, for written and oral self-expression. To develop the ability to search material from a Finnish source on relevant topics. To create opportunities for acquiring additional knowledge about Finnish cultural space and society.
Brief description of the course
Integrated development of skills (listening, reading, speaking, writing) at B1.2 level. Reading and citation of simpler literature, primary analysis of text, different reading strategies. Work with simpler Finnish-language press texts, films and books. Addressing issues of Finnish culture and society.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- has a basic communication language skills:
- uses learned vocabulary and grammatical forms in speech and writing;
- understands everything important on a topic he / she is familiar with, understands the meaning of radio and television programs and simpler text and make summaries;
- can write a text on a familiar or interesting topic;
- is able to describe experiences, events, dreams, goals, discuss restricted topics and express their views, explain and justify them;
- has expanded his knowledge of Finnish culture and society, and has become more familiar with one area.
