Course aims
To deepen the skills of writing and analysis of scientific texts in Finnish.
Brief description of the course
Attention is paid to the history of Finnish society before and after World War II. Goal is also to improve knowledge of the Finnish culture (theater, film, art) and literature (literature from 1905 to the present day).
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
The student has a thorough knowledge of the 19th and 20th-century Finland’s history, culture, literature and society, he/she is able to look at the Finnish culture and literature in the context of world culture and literature, knows the relationship of history and literature in the various fields of culture, is able to associate the wider expertise with wider cultural and social context, is able to use the acquired knowledge in a targeted independent research.
