Course aims
The course intends to help students to acquire the necessary knowledge and skills for designing an effective and efficient learner-centered instructional designer strategy to facilitate both distance and in person education practices. The aim is to plan, prototype and evaluate the LED journey.
Brief description of the course
The course focuses on five main topics:
1. Foundations of Learning Experience Design (LED). Understand the associated theory and framework of the learning experience design. Know your learners, needs, motivations.
2. LED in practice; examine a wide range of teaching approaches. Digital learning resources, learning analytics and AI.
3. Plan and prototype the LED journey, AI; develop skills in planning and evaluating teaching in distance and physical contexts.
4. Evaluation and iteration in LED; encourage critical reflection as a means of redefining instructional interventions in a variety of online or distance contexts.
5. Future Trends in LED. Teaching portfolio and copyright practices; build instructional design knowledge with contemporary teaching practices.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- is able to distinguish and understand the associated theory and framework of the learning experience design;
- understands how LEDs are approached in practice;
- understands the importance of focus on learners' needs to design better digital learning experiences;
- will be able to structure, interpret and enumerate a set of best practices, knowledge and skills for designing effective and efficient instructional designer strategies;
