Brief description of the course
The subjects are divided into three bigger blocks:
Teachers’ potential approaches to teaching art in toddler stage. Questions: what do children learn through the art activities at different ages, which theories help to understand the child’s artistic development.
Means and methods in art education.Questions: how to support the child’s development through different art supplies, which supplies are suitable for children at a specific age, practical activities that can be used with children at a specific age.
The toddler and his needs.Questions: what are the child’s needs and hoe to support the child’s development through creative activities, pupil with special needs and creative activities, which kind of environment would support the development of the child’s creativity and creational freedom. Lectures take place in the form of seminar.

By the end of this course:
The student knows about the different stages of toddler’s development and of how these are expressed in artistic activities and of how to support the toddler’s development through art activities.
Can choose and work out art activities suitable for a particular age and to conduct these with children.
Is able as the implementer to reflect on his/her action according to the theoretical material discussed during the course.
Is able to analyze the child’s development through art activity and find possibilities to support it.
