Course aims
Create the preconditions for acquiring knowledge about the definitions of creativity and contemporary theories of creativity. To learn how to analyze the essence of creativity and its expression in concrete areas of activity while working as a specialist in one’s field.one’s field.
Brief description of the course
The historical perspective of defining creativity. Universal hypothesis of creativity. Theories on the psychology of creativity. Creativity and cognitive processes. Divergent thinking. The models of creativity by John S. Dacey and Katheen H. Lennon, Robert J. Sternberg and Todd I. Lubard, Hans J. Eysenck, Teresa Amabile, Mihaly Csikszentmihaly, Klaus Urban et al. Physiological basis of creativity. Creative process. Creative person, his behavior in social environment and motivation. Methods of research and assessment of creativity. Expression of creativity in various fields of activity (art, science, sport). Learning methods: Lectures, independent work with literature and discussions of respective topics in seminars.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
Knowledge of the concept of creativity and of its expression at the individual and the society level.
Ability to analyze the nature and the expression of creativity in specific fields of activity.
