Course aims

To introduce relationship and connection of the language and culture.

Brief description of the course

Nominative linguistic units as bearers and sourses for nationally oriented cultural information. Relative linguistic units as bearers and sourses for nationally oriented cultural information. Basis of language and culture theoretical aspects. Cultural and linguistic aspect of the text. Non-verbal languages and their language and cultural meaning.

Learning outcomes in the course

Upon completing the course the student:
- knows theoretical basis of the course;
- comprehends differences between linguistic and cultural-linguistics;
- is able to comment on a text;
- is able to interpret the cultural meaning of units of the Russian language and compared to other languages.
