Introduction to different conceptions of Russian history, develop students experience in independent research. Analytical work with sources and academic texts on history of Russia.
Brief description of the course
Eastern Slavs before feudalism. Ancient Russia. Union of countries of the end of XIII century and first half of XV century. Birth of Russia in second half of XV century and in XVI century. Tsarist Russia in XVI-XVII centuries. Formation of the Russian Empire in XVIII century. Russia at the beginning of XIX century Social movement in 1830-50. Perestroika in 1860-1870. Features of Russian foreign policy in 1880-90. Russian-Japanese war and revolution of 1905-1907. Russia in First World War. February Revolution. Dethronement of monarchy. Bolsheviks coming to power. From October Revolution to Civil War. Civil War and Intervention. Transition to New Economical Policy. Big Jump towards socialism. Industrialisation and collectivisation. Russian domestic and foreign policy in the 1930s. Russia in World War II. Final post-war consolidation of soviet totalitarian regime. Reforms in 1960s USSR.
Learning outcomes in the course
Student can mark out special features and understand/classificate tendencies of the Russian history on the background of European history.
