Course aims
The aim is to introduce the students, through an interdisciplinary approach, to the complex field of inter-relation between Culture and Communication in order to improve the understanding of the context.
Brief description of the course
The course offers an overview of the complex relationship between culture and communication. The main focus is on the effects of mass communication on culture and vice versa. The effects are examined through sociological, psychological, economical, political and philosophical views on the subject.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- understands of the context in which culture and communication are interacting through concepts that are ranging from Marxism to Postmodernism;
- has capacity to analyze specific phenomena through a multitude of scientific approaches and perspectives.
