Course aims
To create a general understanding of the internal market and its essential nature. The main focus will be on the customs union and the analysis of the four freedoms: the free movement of goods, persons, services and capital. Emphasis will also be placed on analyzing the main limits to the four freedoms.
Brief description of the course
The course will cover the following topics: commercial and financial policy and the customs union; the free movement of goods; the free movement of services; the free movement of persons, EU citizenship, the rights and freedoms of citizens; the free movement of capital and financial policies; public procurement; state enterprises and state support; services that elicit general interest.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- understands the functioning principles, structure and legal bases of the EU internal market;
- can solve hypothetical cases based on legal facts;
- can analyse the four freedoms of the internal market.
