Course aims
The aim of the course is to provide a general understanding of China’s legal system, its developments and characteristics, the current situation and some future trends.
Brief description of the course
This is an introductory course to Chinese legal system. It gives a short overview of Chinese legal culture and historical legacies in modern China, modernization and reform processes in the legal system, sources of law and the law-making system, legal institutions as well as various areas of Chinese law. Furthermore, popular issues such as China’s participation in international legal system, protection of intellectual property rights, China’s judicial system as well as implementation of laws and the establishment of ’rule of law’ in China will be addressed and discussed.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
