Brief description of the course
Mental health and well-being, risk and protective factors (structural, community and individual level), mental health over the life span, mental health policies, advocacy, stigma, depression and suicidal behaviours, community-based interventions, prevention (universal, selective, indicated), mental protection and coping with stress, resilience
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- has an overview of the holistic nature of health and the role of mental health in it
- is able to analyze the factors influencing mental health and the possibilities of intervention in different stages of life span
- has an overview of the principles of mental health policy-making and advocacy
- understands the nature of stress and the mechanisms of coping with it
