Course aims
Provide detailed overview of water based hiking techniques and cycling techniques as a form of hiking as most popular forms of hiking in Estonia
Brief description of the course
Opportunities for water based environments for hiking (seaside, rivers, lakes). Different formats (kayaks, canoes, rafts) and equipment used, maintenance. Technical skills and practicums. Planning the water based trip (location, equipment, form), needs of clients, safety aspects.
Cycling locations, tracks, sightseeing objects. Choosing the bikes, technical aspects, maintenance. Technical skills and practicums. Planning the cycling trip (location, equipment, form), needs of clients, safety aspects. Personal and group equipment.
Overnight stay in water based and cycling based hiking (camping, lodging, quality, services etc)

Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- knows equipment and aspects of maintenance for water based and cycling based hiking;
- is able to analyze the capacities of the group according to the specific hiking form and plan;
- knows different suitable locations in Estonia for water based and cycling based hiking;
- can plan and conduct individually water based and cycling based one day hiking;
- can analyze potential risks and attractiveness aspects of the hiking activity.
