Course aims
To provide the student with an initial experience of supervising a youth group and to further reinforce their professional knowledge and skills.
Brief description of the course
During their placement, the student supervises a youth group, including planning, carrying out, giving feedback on and analysing activities.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- knows and understands the role of a supervisor in a group process;
- is able to use the knowledge acquired in practical work with young people;
- analyses their role as a supervisor;
- helps young people comprehend what they have experienced and achieved;
- provides constructive feedback and commends the youth based on the set objectives;
- knows the main group processes, is able to guide a youth group and is able to work in a team;
- is able to create conditions for young people to build and develop trusting relationships;
- is able to monitor and support the development of relationships taking into consideration the group processes as well as the individual progress of a young person;
- is able to create, start up and guide a group of young people.
