Course aims
To give an overview of the most important legal acts and international treaties in the field of human rights and their connections with youth work;
to create the preconditions for knowing how to link international youth policies with human rights, for understanding the integration policy in the context of human rights and youth policies, as well as for knowing how to apply knowledge of human rights in youth work
Brief description of the course
The course analyzes the values of youth work, learns about value education methods and introduces teachers to the value game.
Challenges and legislation related to human rights in the Republic of Estonia and their implementation in youth work will be introduced. The topics are also addressed in the context of international (especially European) treaties and examples.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- understand the importance of dealing with the topic of human rights in the context of youth work;
- knows the most important legislation and international treaties in the field of human rights that influences the youth policies;
- is able to link human rights and youth policies;
- is able to link integration policy with human rights and youth policies;
- is able to apply in youth work the knowledge gained during the course
