Course aims
To develop theoretical and practical knowledge about community-based (including mobile) youth work.
To provide an overview of community development strategies and the development of services in accordance with community needs.
To create preconditions for practical community-based youth work, including mobile youth work.
Brief description of the course
The concept of community. Community development and its stages, including local development, social planning and action. Analysis of the needs and resources of the community. Social capital in the community. Social inclusion and exclusion. Mobile youth work and its formation. Analysis of social space. Street work. Levels of consulting and inclusion. Networking.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- knows the content of the community concept and understands the meaning and importance of social capital in the community;
- is able to analyse and evaluate factors influencing the needs and developments of the community;
- has an overview of different community-based youth work forms, including mobile youth work;
- knows how to implement the principles of the youth work during street work.
