Course aims
Major subject, the aim of which is to introduce Estonian legal system to students and give them primary legal knowledge and competence related to advertising. Students who have passed the course have an overview of the valid copyright and civil law, which creates preconditions for their activity in the field of advertising and allows making decisions in legal matters of advertising.
Brief description of the course
The topics dealt with during the course: copyright, contractual relations, labour laws, private law and public law; sources of law, the court system of the Estonian Republic, general principles of civil rights, means of legal protection, property law, right of succession, general principles of contract law, problems related to compensation for damage, penal power. Advertising Act and legal acts related to it. The course also deals with the works protected by copyright, the questions related to moral and proprietary rights of an author, the ways of their execution and protection, concluding an author’s contract, etc. The matters related to using copyrighted works in advertising and legal restrictions on producing advertising are also covered by the course.
