Course aims
The course introduces the main concepts of politics and government and analyses the respective situation in the Baltic States.
Brief description of the course
The course provides an overview of the history of the Baltic States based on their similarities and differences, incl the independence movement 1988-1991. Political culture in each state; parties, election systems, institutional systems. Economic reforms in the 1990's. National issues. recent political developments, EU and NATO.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
-has an overview of the politics and governance of the Baltic states;
-can analyse the politics and governance of the Baltic states.
