Course aims
This course is to help students understand the basics of international trade and finance and the effects of various international economic policies on domestic and world welfare.
Brief description of the course
This course considers both the microeconomic and macroeconomic issues relevant to the economics relations among countries. It covers the basic theories of international trade and international monetary economics: comparative advantage and commercial policy, balance of payment accounts, foreign exchange markets, exchange rate determination, foreign investment, and international debt, the changing role of the U.S. dollar and Euro in the monetary system, the work of the International Monetary Fund, and the proposals for reform of the monetary system. Instruction will be by a combination of lectures and seminars with reading centered on relevant primary literature.

Have a working knowledge of essential international economics concepts and models;
Apply knowledge to understand the complex global business environment;
Explain how international transaction affect macroeconomic behavior and the funcing of monetary and fisical policies;
Understand the activities of traders, investors, and entrepreneurs in international market;
Survey the recent history of international monetary system and crrent policy problems.
