Course aims
The objective is to give an overview of the family as an communicative system, describe family communication and processes taking place in the family.
Help to understand the family as open and communicative system.
Support student´s professional development so that students are able to understand client´s problems.

Brief description of the course
The main theoretical concepts of the family. The basic structural- and process terminology of the family. Family as an developmental system.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- has an overview of the family as open communicative system, understands the communication processes in the family, the structure of the family and processes taking place in the family;
- is able to conceptualize a family as an open interactive system, to diferenciate structural elements in the family, to discover processes taking place in the family and to understand family´s life cycle and it´s periods.
