Course aims
- To give an overview of the main theories in Ethics.
- To give basic competence for solving moral problems.
- To facilitate the development of ability to implement codes of ethics in a multicultural context.
Brief description of the course
The main concepts of Ethics: ethics, morality, morals, values, principles, norms, codes.
The main themes of Ethics: ethical relativism, absolutism, objektivism, egoism and altruism, religion and morality ratio, the ratio of fact and value, moral growth.
The main theories of Ethics: teleological (utilitarianism, hedonism), deontological, the virtues of ethics. Ethics in Natural Sciences.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- has overview of main theories in Ethics;
- has basic competence for solving moral problems;
- can implement of codes of ethics in a multicultural context.
