Course aims
Focus subject. To provide an overview of the principles of design, developing free creative and technical self-expression related to the specific features of the task.
Brief description of the course
An overview of the history and trends of craft, applied art and design. The relation of this development to other arts. The basic principles of design and their application. The basic principles of composition. The basic principles of ornamental art. Search for motifs and the requirements of technique-related solutions in designs and stylisations. Modelling and sketching. Developing a sketch into a technical drawing. Visual communication. Pictographs and the stylisation of an image. Brand design. Sketching an idea and developing it into a design drawing. Product design: ergonomic features and functionality, technological features, aesthetic features, the notion of functional beauty. Various constructional types and materials. Modelling a tool. Sketching an object of utility, developing the sketch into a technical drawing. Technical illustration. An assembly drawing.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
