Course aims
Link didactic knowledge of chemistry with school reality;
To support students' ability to communicate with the school family in the role of (future) teacher;
To enable the student to gain experience and develop as a subject teacher.
Brief description of the course
During the internship, a student at the elementary school level listens and observes 10 classes of the minor subject and then teaches 18-20 hours, i.e. practices as a trainee teacher of the chosen minor subject. The student (trainee-teacher) observes and listens to the lessons of his specialty, prepares observation-listening outlines, analyzes the lessons held together with the teacher; familiarizes himself with the school as a system to which he is assigned for internship; fills in the practice diary. The student practices independently as an intern-teacher, i.e. teaches lessons, which is accompanied by the preparation of the outlines of the corresponding lessons; the student consults with subject teachers and subject methodologists. The student performs the tasks assigned by the subject methodologist(s). If possible, organizes an event on the subject. The student submits the practice diary to the subject teacher(s), the subject methodologist(s) and the head methodologist of the department.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- can see the connections between the school reality and the knowledge acquired within the subject didactics course;
- can behave at school and interpret what he sees there based on the role of a teacher;
- can conduct a subject lesson;
- understands the role of professional knowledge, related skills and values in the student's development, knowing the content of the subject and using an appropriate teaching methodology;
- is able to apply the knowledge of his minor (e.g. chemistry) in another subject area, creating meaningful connections and connections with everyday life;
- plans and conducts lessons using specific learning methods and tools specific to the minor (e.g. laboratory work, etc.);
- analyzes the specifics of subject didactics when teaching a minor subject compared to his main subject.
