Course aims
To give deeper overview on the basic knowledge in chemistry, including calculation tasks, reaction mechanisms and the principles of the chemical nomenclature.
Brief description of the course
The classes of chemical substances and their relations. Writing and naming chemical equations. Interpreting the information obtained from the periodic table of the elements. The basic principles of reaction mechanisms. Percentage calculations, molar calculations, calculations used in laboratory works, exercises in physical chemistry. pH and its calculation. Complex equations.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- has basic knowledge and skills in solving chemistry problems and preparing reactions;
- can solve various problems in the following areas: percentage and concentration, redox equations, calculations based on chemical formulas and equations, simpler physical chemistry problems, mole calculation, complex problems;
- can interpret information from the periodic table of chemical elements;
- is able to create connections between different classes of substances; - has knowledge in the field of chemical nomenclature and terminology and is able to apply them
- consciously uses artificial intelligence applications in analyzing and solving chemistry problems.
