Course aims
To deal with the state and quality of the environment and the methods of chemical and instrumental analysis of the environmental objects.
Practical applications and skills on that field are developed.
Brief description of the course
The subject belongs to the environmental as well as analytical chemistry and deal with the different environmental objects, with their chemical composition and with their methods of analysis. Collection, conservation and analysis of natural, potable and waste waters; collection and analysis of air samples, dry and wet precipitates (rain, snow, dust); soil sampling as well as conservation and analysis of plants will be discussed. Analysis of toxic substances in human organism. Training: practical skills of the analysis of drinking water.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- has knowledge of different environmental analytical problems, of different sample types, sample collection and preparation for chemical analysis;
- has knowledge of how to choose suitable analytical method.
