Course aims
To provide prerequisites for understanding the hydrochemical processes that shape the quality
of surface and groundwater. To support the development of the ability to solve simpler hydrochemical problems,
and to support further specialization in the field.

Brief description of the course
The course provides an overview of the development of surface and groundwater quality,
including the most important physicochemical parameters, solutes, processes and equilibrium systems, and related
biogeochemical cycles. Current water quality issues. An overview of surface and groundwater research
methodologies is given.

Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
