Course aims
Major subject. To provide an overview of the main environmental problems in Estonia, to evaluate their origin, peculiarities and possibilities for mitigation. The purpose and methods of modern environmental protection - goals and actions.
Brief description of the course
The human impact on the environment. The main natural resources and environmental problems in Estonia. The origin of environmental problems, the possibilities for mitigation and avoidance. The development of environmental protection, goals and current situation in Estonia. Legislation and international cooperation in environmental protection.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
A basic overview will be given in the lectures. Independent work with literature to facilitate the writing of the academic report or to prepare for workshop discussion on special topics.
