Course aims
Major. To introduce the problems associated with the magnitude and rapidity of global environmental change threatening the perpetuation of life on Earth. Integrating an analysis of both environmental and social needs, the course explores the promises and problems of different paths towards global management.
Brief description of the course
The crowded world, the limitations and related factors for the development of the human population: energy, food, water our precious resources. Environmental concerns: air pollution, global warming, the Ozone layer, solid and hazardous wastes, international collaboration and sustainable development.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
Class work, academic reports on the given topic and discussions. Participation in class work is recommended, attendance of seminars and discussions is mandatory.
