Course aims
To develop prerequisites for the acquisition of oral and written language skills in Italian at A2 level (Waystage) according to ELP (the European Language Portfolio). The course is designed to target the students whose command of Italian equals to A1 level (Breakthrough) according to ELP.
Brief description of the course
Grammar: phonetics, orthoghraphy, punctuation, regular nouns and adjectives, their singular, plural and gender attributes, auxiliary verbs avere and essere, past participle, gerund, past tenses, personal pronouns, numerals, prepositions.
Speaking skills: talking about one’s studies and profession, expanding vocabulary of the following topics: countries and nationalities, weather phenomena, travelling, professions and clothing.
Writing skills: compiling short narrative texts.
Reading and listening comprehension: ability to understand longer informative texts and comprehend descriptive and informative listening texts.

Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
Ability to exploit the acquired forms in oral and written texts;
Ability to recognise and form grammar structures, undersatnd everyday speech, read descriptive and simpler literal texts;
Ability to pass an exam on A2 level.
