Course aims

An overview of the main principles of literary analysis and using these in interpreting fiction

Brief description of the course

Critical analysis of one contemporary Swedish novel. Historical, social and historical background of the work. Topic, genre, plot, composition, characters, message. Relevant literary theory. Most important means of expression. Text interpretation.

Learning outcomes in the course

Upon completing the course the student:
Student has knowledge of the main principles of literary analysis;
student commands meta-language used for analysis;
student is able to approach a text from different viewpoints
