Course aims
To give an overview of the main rules in our cultural space. Forming the rules of conduct and socialization for working and everyday life. To give an overview about factors that influence contemporary eating habits.
Brief description of the course
The insignia of the Estonian state. TU academic practises and symbols. Occasions in life, traditions and customs, choice of clothes. Different receptions, suitable clothing for receptions. Invitations. General description of the most common religions and their related diets. Food from ancient times to the present day, Food in different cultures. Social and psychological factors affecting eating habits. Full treatment and self-treatment tables. Etiquette in restaurants and cafes. Alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- knows TU academic practises and symbols;
- knows most common religions and their related diets;
- knows factors that influence eating habits;
- knows social graces, etiquette of food and drinks;
knows how to act in different situations.
