Course aims
- Support the acquirement of a wide range of knowledge and skills in integrated sewing techniques and handicraft;
- The aim is that the student uses different possibilities to design textiles, making fabrics/items using handicraft tools while considering the characteristics of the material and following the work- and environment safety rules.

Brief description of the course
Re- and sustainable use of textile when creating new textile material. Free creation and design process. Combining sewing techniques and special techniques in handicraft to design textile surfaces. Creating 2D and 3D textile surfaces using applique techniques, painted thread graphics, tulle technique, frillings, folds, etc., adding pieces of fabric, support materials, beads, felt, etc. Emphasis on the creation of a textile surface that is full of expression. Creation of a portfolio filled with gathered information and samples. Based on the acquired knowledge, students will design and make interior- or clothing fabric that is used creatively to make a textile item. Work is then presented.
Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- uses specialized knowledge to raise questions and to answer them, combines theory and practice;
- designs textiles based on the fundamentals of composition and color and the specific course;
- designs, makes, and finishes textile items in mixed techniques by reworking textiles and reusing them;
- dyes, paints, prints, and finishes textiles according to the detail-drawing, following environment- and work safety rules;
- plans the creative work from the idea to completion, presents and analyses it.
