Course aims
The aim of the course is to create prerequisites for designing objects in handicraft technologies (knitting, crocheting, embroidery) and acquiring the necessary knowledge and skills.
Brief description of the course
Handicraft technologies (knitting, crocheting and embroidery) in Estonian textiles and trends. Materials and tools, principles of their selection, terminology, loops, techniques and their distribution, embroidery stitches and embroidery, schemes, instructions, design basics.
Thematic tasks are solved and analyzed, skills are learned through practical exercises and creative works.

Learning outcomes in the course
Upon completing the course the student:
- has basic knowledge of craft techologies (knitting, crocheting, embroidry) knows terminology;
- has technological skills in creating and designingvarious surfaces and embroideries;
- is able to integrate the acquired knowledge and skills in the product development process and analyze the suitability of materials, tools and technology.
